Sandra Blow

Sandra Blow RA (1925-2006) was one of the leading lights in the British abstract movement in the 1950s. She studied at St Martins and the Royal Academy schools but it was in 1947 after moving to Italy that she started her painting career in bold abstract style making her mark with strong tonal works using paint and collage.

Sandra Blow was elected to the Royal Academy in 1979 and in 1994 a major retrospective of her work was held at the Royal Academy.
